Cruise tourism effetcts in the EU Islands' economies

The theme of ‘the island condition and the characteristics of the EU territories surrounded by the sea has already been treated in a number of studies and in some recent research projects which have highlighted disparities, structural disadvantages and the presence of an economy which relies excessively on tourism. The aim of this paper is to show the incoming tourism or daily visitors’ flows generated by cruises in the EU islands, and to present the tourist expenditure matrix and the composition of the main expenses. The results seem to show that local economies generated by cruise daily visitors if combined with local productions, could have a good level of economic impact.

In today’s world, international tourism is one of the most quickly and dynamically developing sectors of economy. In the year 2012 – for the first time in the history of mankind – international tourist arrivals exceeded the milestone of one billion tourists globally, and within merely the 20 years’ time, i.e. between 1995 and 2015, the number of people travelling abroad as tourists more than d o u b l e d. The work «Lo Crestià» by Eiximenis is an encyclopaedic project that develops, among many other subjects, the political worries of his author. The Dotzè is the place where the ideas about the ideal society, a society that takes form in the space of the city, are related. Which exactly the image of the ideal city is and with which sources Eiximenis works, is the central subject of this article. Some of these sources have been fully studied, one of them being, for example, the relationship between the Dotzè with the Politics by Aristotle. 'Different' and 'distinct' as markers of otherness: A corpus-driven study of the (re)creation of privilege in high standard hotels.

The present study seeks to offer an understanding of how high-end hotel websites produce privilege, creating a sense of belonging and entitlement for their 4/5-star guests. The experience of tourism is intrinsically linked to embracing otherness, and as a reflection of this, hotel websites offer a characterization of cultural otherness in an attempt to make it resonate with the potential expectations of a socioeconomically privileged client. The study considers the question of what elements of experience of otherness the website will address, relying on a Critical Discourse Analysis perspective and drawing on Bourdieu's notion of habitus as related to lifestyle, difference and distinction. …

Jak wiadomo, język niemiecki jest językiem pluricentrycznym z narodowymi odmianami/centrami, który w obrębie języka prawa różni się także ze względu na obowiązujące w różnych krajach niemieckojęzycznych różne systemy prawa. Austriacki kodeks cywilny (ABGB), uchwalony w roku 1811, jest prawie o cały wiek starszy od swego odpowiednika w RFN (BGB), który wszedł w życie w roku 1900. Ów dystans czasowy pociąga za sobą także różnice w zakresie języka obu kodeksów. Celem artykułu jest pokazanie cech wspólnych i różnic w obrębie kolokacji w niemieckim i austriackim kodeksie cywilnym, które dotąd prawie całkowicie pozostawały poza obszarem badań.
